Pra Surasawadii is the Thai Name for Sarasvati, the Brahman-Hindu Goddess of knowledge, music, arts and science. Pra Surasawadii is the consort of Pra Prohm (Brahma), and she is also revered as his Shakti (Female Counterpart).

She has a fair complexion and wears a light robe the color of a white lotus. She has a Steed (as do almost all Gods and Godesses), which is a Peacock, symbolizing the Purity of Truth. She almost always wears white, because white is the color of Pure Wisdom and Intellect. In the Autumn she wears Yellow, which is the Time of the Festivals in her Honor. Contrary to the image featured (left) Pra Surasawadii does not usually like to wear Fancy Jewelry and Regalia like the Godess Lakshmi (Pra Laksmi), preferring more simple adornments. This represents her preference towards Knowedge above Worldly Material Matters.

Sometimes a peacock is shown beside the goddess. The peacock represents arrogance and pride over its beauty, and by having a peacock as her mount, the goddess teaches not to be concerned with external appearance and to be wise regarding the eternal truth.

The name Sarasvati comes from saras (meaning "flow") and wati (meaning "she who has ..."), i.e., "she who has flow". So, Saraswati is symbol of knowledge; its flow (or growth) is like a river, and knowledge is supremely alluring, like a beautiful woman. She is depicted as a beautiful fair goddess with four arms, wearing a spotless white saree and seated on a white lotus. She is also known as Sharada, Vani and Vagdevi (all meaning "speech").

Saraswati, known as Sraosha in Zoroastrianism, is the guardian of Earth. Sraosha ("obedience") is also the wife and messenger of Ahura Mazda, and her role is the "Teacher of Daena", Daena being the hypostasis of both "Conscience" and "Religion". She also guides the souls of the deceased to find their way to the afterlife. Her symbolic animal is the peacock, whose crowing calls the pious to their religious duties.

Rear Face

A Takrut with the Heart Mantra and Yantra of Sarasvati is embedded within the Sacred Powders of the rear face of the amulet, which has the Invocation of the Four Elements inscribed in 'Aksorn Tam' (Lanna Agkhara ancient Magical Script). A Very rich Mixture of Sacred Maha Sanaeh powders and Incense and earths from Sacred Shrines of Sarasvati were used to make the Muan Sarn for the amulet.

She is also called Druga for fighting off Drug (Drug, the name for female demon in ancient Veda, from the Sanskrit root druh, "to be hostile"). The name Druga is made of Sanskrit dru or dur ("with difficulty") and gā or jā ("come", "go"). Saraswati is known as a guardian deity in Buddhism who upholds the teachings of Gautama Buddha by offering protection and assistance to practitioners. She is known in Burmese as Thurathadi or Tipitaka Medaw, in Chinese as Biàncáitiān (辯才天), in Thai as Surasawadee (สุรัสวดี) and in Japanese as Benzaiten (弁才天/弁財天). In the East Indian states of Bihar, West Bengal, and Orissa, Saraswati is considered to be a daughter of Durga along with her sister Lakshmi and her brothers Ganesha and Karthikeya. (Wikipedia)

Pra Surasawadii has four arms, which hold a Rosary, a 'Kampir' (Grimoire of Vedic Lore), and the other two arms are playing the Vina. Sarasvati is known as a guardian deity in Buddhism who upholds the teachings of Gautama Buddha by offering protection and assistance to practitioners.

Her four arms represent the four aspects of human personality in learning: mind, intellect, alertness, and ego.

Alternatively, these four arms also represent the four Vedas, the primary sacred books for Hindus. The Vedas, in turn, represent the three forms of literature:

* Poetry — the Rigveda contains hymns, representing poetry.
* Prose — Yajurveda contains prose.
* Music — Samaveda represents music.
